Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Gardener to join our team for the 2025 season. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in professional gardening and at least two years of leadership experience. You will be responsible for overseeing a team, ensuring high-quality work, and maintaining the health and beauty of our clients' gardens.
Responsibilities
🌱 Lead and mentor a small team in performing professional gardening and landscaping services
🌿 Identify and care for a wide variety of plants, flowers, and shrubs specific to Calgary’s climate
🚜 Use and maintain gardening tools and small equipment (pruners, hedge trimmers, etc.)
🚛 Drive and transport equipment and team members as needed
🛠 Perform weeding, planting, pruning, edging, and mulching to maintain healthy landscapes
💧 Monitor irrigation systems where applicable and provide updates
🏋️♂️ Perform physically demanding tasks, including kneeling, crouching, bending, and lifting heavy materials
🌦 Work in all weather conditions (rain, heat, wind, etc.)
📅 Follow a set schedule while ensuring client satisfaction and high-quality work
Requirements
✔
Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role within professional gardening
✔ Strong knowledge of Calgary’s plant species, invasive weeds, and local climate conditions
✔ Physically fit with the ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and lift throughout the day
✔ Class 5 Driver’s License (must have less than 5 demerits)
✔ Smartphone required for communication and scheduling
✔ Experience in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture
✔ Strong communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English
✔ Attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces
📚 Applicants with formal gardening training such as LGAP, ISA certification, or a Horticultural Diploma will be highly regarded.
